Typically at least 14 days’ notice, however – during our busy season we may require more notice, especially cakes with labor intensive decorations. We cannot predict how many cake orders we will receive in any given day, so it’s best to start the ordering process at least 3 weeks ahead of time.
WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER A ‘CUSTOM’ OR ‘SPECIALTY’ CAKE?
Any cake that contains one or more of the following: fondant decorations, tiered cakes, 2D cut-out cakes, free hand drawings, or other labor intensive decorations as determined by a cake decorator. This also applies to custom cookies and custom cupcakes.
DO YOU HAVE BIRTHDAY CAKES AVAILABLE IN STORE TO PICK-UP SAME DAY?
Yes - we offer 8”, 10”, and ¼ sheet birthday style cakes in store that can be personalized with writing. They are typically decorated with frosting flowers or balloons, or with seasonal/novelty decorations. We also offer 6” frosting cakes with novelty designs, 7” layer cakes or 7” tortes and cheesecakes that can also be personalized with writing. Call ahead to ensure we haven’t sold out for the day.

I SUBMITTED A REQUEST FOR A QUOTE ON YOUR WEBSITE BUT HAVE NOT HEARD BACK YET. WHO CAN I CONTACT FOR HELP?
You can always contact our Brockton store at 508-584-5100 ext 5 to follow up on a request. We typically respond to online requests same day, and the latest within 24-48 hours. Emails occasionally get filtered to the spam folder, so if you haven’t heard from us in a couple days, give us a call to follow up.
I WENT IN TO A STORE TO PLACE AN ORDER FOR A CUSTOM CAKE AND THE ASSOCIATE REFERRED ME TO CONTACT THE CAKE CONSULTANT. WHY DO I NEED TO DO THIS? WHY AREN’T YOUR STORE FRONT ASSOCIATES ABLE TO TAKE MY ORDER?
Custom cakes can be complicated and our store front associates are not cake decorators. They are trained to know the basics but there are many questions that need to be asked to ensure you get the cake you envision. We have a cake consultant who has over 34 years of cake decorating experience at our Brockton store who handles all of our custom requests. She knows all the right questions to ask, and can make suggestions if you need help. She knows how cakes are baked, assembled, designed, decorated and more. She knows this because this is a career for her, whereas a store front associate may be a high school student and this is their first job experience. We want to ensure your custom cake is perfect. We want you to love it, we want your guests to love it and we want you to come back to White’s for all your special occasion cakes. DO YOU OFFER CAKE TASTINGS?
Unfortunately, we no longer take appointments for cake tastings. The majority of our cakes are available to purchase in store or we can make up cupcakes with different flavor combinations if you place a special order.
WHY DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOSIT?
Your deposit guarantees a spot on our production schedule. It ensures a commitment on our part – and on your part – that you would like White’s to make your cake. Your 50% deposit guarantees we will be available to make your cake for the day you specify. Your deposit goes towards purchasing ingredients and supplies to make the cake, as well as scheduling employees for the labor involved. We must maintain a manageable volume of orders; therefore the orders that have paid deposits will be priority.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
We receive a very large amount of requests for special orders every week and we are only able to accept a certain amount. When you cancel an order with enough notice, we are able to accommodate another customer’s request. When a last minute cancellation is made, we are not able to make up for the lost sale, thus the cancellation fee. In order to maintain a manageable work load and maintain the quality of our work, we must enforce this policy. The chart below explains our policy in detail. If you cancel with:
More than 7 days’ notice – you will receive a full refund for the deposit amount paid.
3-7 days’ notice – you will receive a STORE CREDIT for the deposit amount paid. No refunds.
Less than 3 days’ notice – a $20 cancellation fee will apply and the remaining balance on a deposit paid will be issued as a STORE CREDIT. No refunds, no exceptions.
In addition, any changes (design, flavor, size, etc) must be made with at least 4 days’ notice. Change requests cannot be guaranteed and are subject to our production schedule/availability. Verbal cancellation is required - we do not accept cancellations or change requests via email (sometimes they go to junk mail). You must call or stop by in person to cancel.
I HAVE A PICTURE OF A CAKE I WOULD LIKE WHITE'S TO MAKE - ARE YOU ABLE TO REPLICATE IT?
We will try our best to accommodate your request and come as close as possible to your desired design, but please keep in mind exact replications are not possible. Each of our talented cake decorators has their own style and technique. Like handwriting, no two designs are the same.
I WOULD LIKE TO MATCH A SPECIFIC COLOR TO MY CAKE – HOW CAN YOU ENSURE IT WILL BE EXACTLY WHAT I WANT?
The only way to guarantee an exact color match is to bring us a physical swatch or sample of the color desired. Emailing us a picture is not acceptable for exact color matching, as computer monitors and printers all vary. Even describing a color such as coral can be tricky. Our decorator may think of coral as an orangey-pink color, you may think it’s more pinky-orange. Color is very subjective, so we ask that if the colors on your cake are an integral part of the design, please bring us a swatch.
DO YOU OFFER EDIBLE IMAGE SCANS/PHOTOS ON CAKES?
Yes, we can scan almost any high quality image you provide onto edible rice paper. Simple scans are an extra $15 per sheet of edible paper used (approx. 8.5”x10” size). Please allow at least 48 hours notice for basic cake requests with scans. If you are bringing us a photo to use, we ask that you do not leave original or one-of-a kind photos – please make a copy of your photo and leave the copy with us. If you are emailing us a picture to use, please make sure it is good quality and in a file we can open (pdf, jpeg, png, word). Keep in mind, our scanner software is not able to edit or enhance images other than simple cropping. If you send us a picture that has a watermark on the background, or something you don’t want included – we are not able to remove it. Your picture will appear EXACTLY as it looks when you provide it.
DO YOU MAKE WEDDING CAKES?
White’s is no longer in the wedding cake business.
DO YOU RENT CUPCAKE TOWERS?
We do not rent cupcake towers, but we do sell them. We sell 3, 4 or 5 tier stands and typically need a couple weeks’ notice to ensure we have them in stock. The 3 and 4 tier stands are made of white Styrofoam. The 5 tier stand is made of a heavy white plastic.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR CAKE TRANSPORT/CARE
When you pick-up your cake, please be sure to hold the box from the bottom – not the sides! You do not want to risk ruining the sides of the cake.
I AM TRAVELING A LONG DISTANCE WITH MY CAKE - HOW CAN I MAKE SURE IT ARRIVES SAFELY?
We recommend that your cake be placed on a flat, level surface such as the floor, trunk or back of an SUV. Bringing along something that can keep your box from sliding during transport is helpful. Blankets, towels or other items tucked next to the cake box can keep it in place. If you have to place your cake on a seat, make sure you can keep the cake level by tucking blankets or coats under the box so it does not lean. In warmer months, make sure your vehicle is cool/air-conditioned. Frosting, fillings, or fondant decorations can become soft and unstable when exposed to heat and humidity.
I AM NOT SERVING MY CAKE RIGHT AWAY - WHERE SHOULD I STORE IT?
Somewhere cool! If you will not be serving your cake within an hour of picking it up, please keep it refrigerated. If you do not have access or room in a refrigerator, you can store it (keep in the box) in a large cooler with ice packs, or by placing ice packs around the box. Please keep in mind, repeatedly moving a cake from cool to warm temperatures could result in decorations becoming soft or unstable and fillings to become soft, which can create leaning or sliding of cake layers/tiers, condensation on the frosting, colors bleeding, etc.
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO CUT A LARGE ROUND CAKE OR TIERED CAKE??
For cakes larger than 7” round, we suggest cutting slices as illustrated in the diagram below to ensure you get the most servings. For tiered cakes, start with the top tier and move you way down. Please note that there are wooden dowels placed in the tiered cakes to secure them – remove before serving.
DO YOU DELIVER?
We will deliver large orders such as tiered cakes, catering orders, etc for a fee. All deliveries are made from our Brockton store and the fee will depend on the distance from Brockton. The minimum delivery fee is $25. Most deliveries need at least one week’s notice, and is subject to our driver’s availability. All orders that are delivered must be paid in full prior to delivery date. Our driver does not accept payment.
DOES YOUR driver SET UP THE CAKE (cupcake, pastry, etc) ARRANGEMENT?
Our driver will ensure you order arrives safely, but they do not set anything up, aside from placing your cake (or other item) in a designated spot (display table, refrigerator, etc). It is up to the customer, or event planner to arrange your items in a presentable manner with other décor (flowers, etc).
DO YOU SHIP PRODUCTS?
At this time, we do not ship products, but we hope to in the future.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOUR ‘TRADITIONAL’ FROSTING AND YOUR ‘FRENCH BUTTERCREAM’ FROSTING?
Our Traditional frosting is very sweet, thick and sugary – like a traditional birthday cake frosting. Our French Buttercream frosting is lighter, not quite as sweet and smoother in texture.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOUR WHITE CAKE AND YELLOW CAKE?
Our White cake is a lighter and fluffier cake with a subtle vanilla flavor (a traditional wedding cake flavor), while our Yellow cake is a bit more moist, with a more discernable vanilla flavor.
DO YOU OFFER ANY GLUTEN FREE ITEMS?
White’s Bakery is not a Gluten Free facility, however we do offer a few products that are GF. If you are looking for a GF birthday or special occasion cake, we make a GF vanilla or chocolate cake that can be decorated (cupcakes also available by special order). We also make a Chocolate Decadence torte which is made with almond flour, and we carry this in our stores daily (call ahead to ensure availability). Please use your best judgement – again, we are not a GF bakery and some of these products may come in contact with other items that contain gluten.
DO YOU MAKE ANY SUGAR FREE PRODUCTS?
At this time we do not offer any sugar free items.
ARE ANY OF YOUR PRODUCTS COMPLETELY NUT FREE AND SAFE FOR SOMEONE WITH A SEVERE ALLERGY?
White’s is not a nut free bakery. We try our very best to accommodate customers with special allergy concerns and make sure our equipment, utensils and work space have been properly sanitized – however, we use nuts in many products and cannot guarantee that an item has not been in contact with small or trace amounts of nuts. Please use your best judgement when ordering.
ARE ANY OF YOUR CAKES DAIRY FREE?
All of our cakes contain either eggs and/or dairy (milk products).
DO YOU HAVE NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION AVAILABLE?
We do not calculate the nutritional information for any products, but we are happy to provide a list of ingredients at your request.
WHY DID I RECEIVE AN EMAILED RECEIPT WHEN I DID NOT PROVIDE MY EMAIL ADDRESS?
Our POS register system and credit card processing merchant is Square, Inc. When a customer provides personal info such as an email address to ANY other business that also uses a Square POS system, the info is saved within Square. So – while White’s Bakery does not collect or use your email address for anything – Square still has the information. Unfortunately, White’s does not have any control over this feature, and we understand unwanted emails can be very annoying. To disable the emailed receipts feature, scroll to the very bottom of the email and click on the link that says ‘Manage Email Preferences’ to opt-out of the feature.
WHO CAN I CONTACT REGARDING WHOLESALE?
White’s is not currently accepting any other wholesale accounts.
WHO DO I CONTACT REGARDING A DONATION OR SPONSORSHIP?

We have a limited monthly budget for donations and we receive a very large amount of requests every week. We would love to be able to contribute to everyone’s cause, but it is not possible. Keep in mind, White’s does not typically donate large cakes, or other labor intensive product (custom cookies, cupcakes, etc).
DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS ON LARGE ORDERS?
We do not offer bulk discounts on large order items, particularly cakes, cupcake and/or cookies. The only products we offer a bulk discount on are for mini pastries (regular cannoli, eclair, cream puff, chocolate decadence, cheesecake, carrot cake) on orders of 20 dozen or more.
